Career Paths: Defining Growth and Progression

The Paths section is where you create and manage career progression for every role.
Here, you build Career Paths by defining roles and their levels.
These paths are then used in the Competency Matrix to set skill requirements, and in the Playbook to help employees develop and grow.

To access this section, navigate to Grow → Career Path → Paths.

At the top of the Paths section, you will find summary cards that provide a quick snapshot of your organizational career architecture:

Career Paths: The total number of career paths set up in the system.
Positions without Career Path: The count of roles within your organization that have not yet been assigned to a career path. This helps administrators identify gaps in the career architecture.
Career Path Coverage: The percentage of roles that are included in existing career paths.
On the left, you’ll see clickable cards for each career path available to a role. Click a career path card on the left to view its progression and role requirements. Summary cards at the top show your current position within the career structure, including its Job Family, Career Track, and Level, all based on your  your Position Management settings:

Job Families: The total number of unique functional groups (e.g., Engineering, Sales, HR) associated with this position’s path.
Career Tracks: The total number of career ladders (e.g., Individual Contributor, Management) relevant to this path.

Total Levels: The total number of seniority levels defined for this path.

Linked Paths: The total number of connections from levels in this path to levels in another path, enabling structured cross-path progression.

In Path Settings, admins can see a role’s current career path levels and take key actions to manage the career architecture: Add, Link, Unlink, Edit, and Delete paths:

  • Add Career Path: Create a new career path in the system.
  • Link Path: Connects levels in the current career path to levels in another path,
defining possible career transitions and enabling structured cross-path growth.
This action is performed via the Link Path button.
  • Unlink Path: Removes an existing connection between levels in this path and levels in another path. This action is performed via the Unlink button.
  • Edit: Allows administrators to modify the path’s name, description, levels, or other settings to ensure the career structure stays up-to-date. This action is performed via the Edit button.
  • Delete: Removes the career path from the system. This action is performed via the Delete button.
