Understanding Body Types

Body Types are the templates used to define the building blocks of your organization. Instead of creating individual teams right away, you first set up these categories to ensure that every part of your company—from large divisions to small specialized groups—has a clear role and purpose.

Where to Find: Settings → Company Structure → Body Types

Availability: Administrators. Employees cannot create or edit Body Types, but they may see them depending on access permissions.

By default, the system includes four main types:
  • Division: The largest grouping, like major business areas, product lines, or regions.
  • Department: Groups people by their function or expertise, such as Finance, Engineering, or Marketing.
  • Unit: Smaller groups within a department focused on a specific process or responsibility (e.g., Risk Management Unit).
  • Team: A group working closely together on shared tasks or projects (e.g., Product Team, Design Team).
These are just the defaults. You can create your own custom categories to match your unique structure by clicking the + Add button.
Creating a Body Type
To add a new body type, follow the steps:
  • Make sure you are on the Body Types page.
  • Click the +Add button.
  • Provide a short, descriptive title for the type of team you are creating (e.g., Division, Department, or Project Group).
  • Enter a brief description of what this category represents.
  • Select a color to help distinguish this Body Type in the organizational chart and lists.
    •  You can quickly pick one of the five standard colors.
    • Or click the "+" button to choose a specific brand color.
  • Finally, click Save.

Body Types List

Once created, the Body Type will appear in the list, where you can see the number of active groups (Bodies) assigned to it. Clicking this number takes you to a managed list of those bodies.
If a Body Type has no assigned bodies, it can be permanently deleted. However, if it is already in use, the system will archive it instead to preserve your data history.

Now that your building blocks are set, you can proceed to create and manage the specific bodies within each type.
