Understanding and Managing Epics

Where to Find: Work → Tasks → Epics

Epics are big projects or initiatives that group related tasks together. While a task is a single action, an Epic shows the “big picture.” This section helps teams and managers track overall progress without focusing on daily details.

The Epics section provides a bird's-eye view of your strategic goals. Each Epic card displays the following information:
  • Epic Name & Description: The title of the initiative and a brief summary of its purpose (e.g., "Monthly Product Updates").
  • Owner & Update Time: Shows who is leading the Epic and how recently the information was updated.
  • Progress Tracking: Done / Total: A numerical count of completed tasks versus the total number of tasks linked to this Epic.
    • In Progress: The number of tasks currently being worked on.
    • Overdue: A red indicator showing how many tasks have missed their deadlines.
  • Visual Progress Bar: A blue status bar that fills up as tasks are completed, giving you an instant sense of how close the Epic is to 100%.
Beyond viewing progress, you can manage each Epic directly using the Action menu:
  • Open: View the full details of the Epic.
  • Create task: Add a new task to this initiative.
  • Open in Board: Switch to the Board view to see all related tasks by their status.
  • Delete: Remove the Epic from the system.
You can also add a new Epic using the +Add button.

How to Create an Epic:
To initiate a new strategic project, click the + Add button on the Epics page and fill in the following details in the sidebar:
  • Title: Enter a clear and concise name for the Epic. This is a required field that will identify the project on your dashboard.
  • Owner: Select the person responsible for leading this initiative from the dropdown menu.
  • Description: Provide a detailed summary of the Epic’s goals, requirements, or any context your team needs to understand the scope of work.
  • Save & Close: Once you have filled in the details, click Save to create the Epic or Close to discard your changes.
